Job

Our story will be like the story of Job.

Job, or in Hebrew, Iyobh, which means "the one who weeps." Tonight, I asked Zuraide and Lara for suggestions regarding my theme. Zuraide immediately said, "Our story will be like the story of Job." Lara threw me a curveball and suggested I should write about dough. The Hebrew word for dough is batzeik, which means "to ferment."
I happened to be speaking to Lara about Job last week. She made a comment that struck me. I told her that Job received everything back tenfold. She replied, "Yes, he did, but he didn't get his original family back." She has a very good point there. I think Job's faith was batzeik—his faith was fermented. That is precisely why we don't read that he was dissatisfied with the new family God gave him. Fermentation makes something better, more flavorful. It makes wine stronger. In Job's case, it resulted in a stronger, more flavorful faith in his God.
We all have a Job story. The question, however, is whether the dough of our lives is fermented?
Because if it is indeed fermented, our life story will be like Job's story. Regardless of what crosses our path, we will trust in Him and know that He has a "happily ever after" life in mind for each and every one of us.
Job 9:10 "He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted."
"...give us our daily bread..."
Amen.
